Tom Neumann
Tom was my friend. The first time I ever saw Tom he was standing in the center section of the sanctuary at Redmond Assembly of God on about the third row. A Christian Concert was happening and so was Tom. The music was loud, and Tom, with both arms extended heavenward, was fervently worshiping God. He was impossible to miss! (If you look at the picture to the right--Tom is the tallest, biggest man on the Basketball team) I later came to know Tom as a friend as we worked on campus together at NU over the summer. We were cleaning, striping and then re-waxing the floors. Do you remember the first time you used a power buffer? Tom and I took turns trying to muscle the buffer while it threw us into the walls. Finally, Charlie Pratt (our supervisor) showed us the finer details of "tipping" the buffer in order to control it. Tom and I worked hard and laughed a lot that summer...
I did not see Tom as much after that summer of working together. You see, he found the love of his life, Evelyn Smith. Ev and Tom began a courtship that turned into a real love story. Ev became Tom's bride and they enjoyed life together until Tom passed away. They were married for 37 "Great Years" according to Ev. By all accounts Tom was a good man. A good friend, a good husband and a good father. He is missed by all who knew him.
